SA Refugee Week 2014 poster
I designed this poster for the SA Refugee Week 2014 poster competition, with a simple intention: cut out the stigma.
By interacting with this poster by cutting out the boat outline you remove the ‘boat’ stigma, leaving ‘people’.
Another mechanism of the poster is it becomes a representation of a habib headscarf, known to be worn by refugee women.
I encourage the viewer to cut out the opening, and see things through the eyes of refugee people. We’re all people underneath what we wear.
I was awarded Runner Up in the Tertiary entries.
